ABOUT ME

I have been writing poetry for most of my life. Now that I am retired from my other careers, I decided to put together a collection of poems with rhythm and rhyme for publication. My first book WORDS WITHOUT MUSIC –Poems with Rhythm and Rhyme was born.

This collection is outside the norm of most modern poetry today. They more closely resemble songs and they tell stories. See my publisher’s website www.friesenpress.com for more information.

When my children were young their perspective made me curious about how we see things. My exploration of seeing led me to photography, drawing and painting. My efforts in these artistic endeavours are still in their infancy, but I'm still willing to share what I do with others. I included five of my paintings in my book Words Without Music and I intend to share more of my work on my website and facebook page.

I have a B.Sc.(Pharm.) degree and worked as a community pharmacist for a number of years. I also have an M.B.A. and was a business owner, held management positions in a larger firm, served as a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Alberta, and completed a number of consulting contracts. I have credentials in Adult Education and have written policy manuals, non-fiction articles, and prepared courses for distance learning and classroom workshops.

I live in Victoria with my husband Patrick and my miniature poodle Carmel. I have two grown children who are now launched into life outside our nuclear family. I am a voracious reader, a bad golfer, bake, knit, walk my dog, write, paint and enjoy family and friends. My husband, my children and Carmel are my greatest loves and my greatest supports.
